Graphene Lubricant Additive

Graphene Integrations makes a graphene lubricant additive in Charlotte, North Carolina. Our graphene lubricant additive is available now. Made by integrating graphene into oleic acid and monomer, it reduced wear by up to 42% and raised weld load by 26% in independent testing at Univar's Houston lab.

What the test results mean

  • Wear: up to 42% less wear compared with the lubricant without graphene, in the lab test.
  • Weld load: 26% higher weld load, the load at which the test surfaces seize. A higher weld load means the lubricant protects metal surfaces under heavier load.

How graphene helps lubricants

Graphene is a sheet of carbon one atom thick. Thin graphene layers can sit between moving metal surfaces and slide over each other, helping the lubricant keep the surfaces apart under load. Our Graphene, Explained episode "Can graphene make oil work better?" explains this in under a minute: watch on YouTube.

What we can and can't claim today

  • We can claim the wear and weld load results above, from independent lab testing at Univar's Houston lab.
  • We do not publish engine fuel-economy, oil-life or field results; we have no measured field data to share yet.
  • Performance depends on the base oil and additive package, so we test in your formulation.

Spec sheet summary

  • Form: graphene supplied pre-dispersed in a liquid carrier, never as dry flake or powder.
  • Carrier options: oil-based: graphene integrated into oleic acid and monomer; other base oils on request.
  • Typical uses: industrial lubricants, oils and greases, evaluated in your own formulation.
  • Handling: liquid product, so there is no dry graphene powder to handle. Follow the mixing, storage and safety instructions on the spec sheet and SDS supplied with each product.

The full spec sheet and SDS are available on request. Request a quote, samples or a spec sheet / SDS.

Who it is for

Lubricant blenders and formulators who want to evaluate graphene in their own oils and greases. We supply graphene already dispersed in oil and work with your team from samples to production.

Graphene oil additive: typical applications

  • Industrial gear and machinery lubricants
  • Greases
  • Metalworking and other industrial oils
  • Automotive lubricant formulations developed by blenders

We supply the graphene additive to lubricant blenders and formulators, already dispersed in oil. It is not a retail bottle additive for consumers.

How to evaluate it in your formulation

  1. Tell us your base oil, additive package and the test you use (for example wear and weld load).
  2. We supply a sample dispersed in oil, with the spec sheet and SDS.
  3. You run your test against your current formulation as the baseline.
  4. If it works, we scale up and supply. Pricing is by quote.

Frequently asked questions

Who did the testing?

The tests were done independently at Univar Solutions' lab in Houston, Texas. We work with leading chemical distributors, including Nano Technology Chemicals (NTC).

Is it available now?

Yes. Pricing is by quote.

Is this a graphene engine oil additive I can buy in a store?

No. We supply graphene lubricant additive to blenders and formulators for use in their own products, not as a retail bottle for consumers.

Do you claim fuel savings?

No. We publish the wear and weld load results from independent testing at Univar's Houston lab. We do not publish fuel-economy, energy-saving or oil-life results.
