Graphene Dispersions in Water, Solvents, Resins and Oils

A graphene dispersion is graphene that has already been evenly mixed into a liquid carrier. Graphene Integrations makes graphene in Charlotte, North Carolina and supplies it pre-dispersed in the carrier chemical you need, including water, solvents, resins and oils, so it can be added to your material without handling loose powder.

Why dispersion matters

Graphene sheets are one atom thick and tend to stack and clump together. Clumped graphene does not spread through a material and adds little. Getting graphene to mix evenly is the hard part of using it, and it is the problem we focus on. Our Data Centers, Explained episode "The hard part about graphene coolants: keeping it mixed" covers the same challenge in coolants.

Carriers we work with

  • Water-based dispersions: for water-based materials and fluids, such as ThermaGraph™, our graphene coolant in deionized water.
  • Oil-based dispersions: used in lubricants, such as our graphene lubricant (graphene integrated into oleic acid and monomer; we work with leading chemical distributors, including Nano Technology Chemicals (NTC)), and in ThermaGraph-D™ (white mineral oil).
  • Resin dispersions: for polymer composites, such as the armor and aerospace composites developed with AARG.
  • Solvent dispersions: for coatings and other formulations where a solvent carrier fits the process.

Results with our dispersed graphene

  • 67% gain in concrete compressive strength at about a 1% dose, in testing (concrete additive).
  • Up to 42% less wear and 26% higher weld load in a lubricant, in independent testing at Univar's Houston lab (lubricant additive).
  • Four graphene car care products developed with ITW for Black Magic and Rain-X (ITW case study).
  • +6% to +18% higher convective heat transfer coefficient for ThermaGraph™ vs a glycol baseline, in internal pumped-loop lab tests; lab data, not field data (data center coolants).

Spec sheet summary

  • Form: graphene supplied pre-dispersed in a liquid carrier, never as dry flake or powder.
  • Carrier options: water, solvents, resins, oils, or the carrier chemical your process needs.
  • Typical uses: water-based materials and fluids, lubricants and oils, polymer composites and resins, coatings.
  • Handling: liquid product, so there is no dry graphene powder to handle. Follow the mixing, storage and safety instructions on the spec sheet and SDS supplied with each product.

The full spec sheet and SDS are available on request. Request a quote, samples or a spec sheet / SDS.

Choosing a dispersion

The right carrier and concentration depend on your material and process. Tell us what you make, what you want to improve and the volumes you work at, and we will suggest a starting point and quote R&D samples. Request samples.

Why pre-dispersed? Graphene sheets tend to clump back together, and a clumped additive does little. Supplying graphene already dispersed in your carrier means you add a liquid, not a dust. More in how graphene additives are used in manufacturing.

How to order

  1. Tell us your product: the material or formulation, the carrier it uses, and the property you want to improve.
  2. Request a quote, samples or a spec sheet / SDS through the quote and sample request form. Pricing and samples are by quote.
  3. Lab trial: we disperse graphene into your carrier and you test it against your own baseline.
  4. Scale-up and supply: once the trial works, we scale up and supply graphene pre-dispersed in that carrier, made in Charlotte, NC.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between graphene powder and a graphene dispersion?

Powder is dry graphene that must be mixed into a material by the user, and it tends to clump. A dispersion has the graphene already spread through a liquid carrier, ready to add. We sell graphene only as dispersions, not as dry flake or powder.

Can you make a dispersion in my carrier?

We supply graphene in water, solvents, resins and oils. Contact us with your carrier and application and we will tell you what we can make.

What is a graphene dispersion?

A graphene dispersion is graphene spread evenly through a liquid carrier such as water, a solvent, a resin or an oil, so it can be added to a product without handling dry powder.

Can you make a dispersion in our own carrier?

Yes. We disperse graphene into the carrier chemical your product needs. Tell us the carrier and application through the quote form.
