Graphene Paint and Coating Additive Arrives Pre-Dispersed in Solvent, Water or Resin

Press release

The additive is matched to the coating's own carrier so formulators can test graphene in solvent-based, water-based and resin systems.

— Graphene Integrations today released its Graphene Paint Additive for paints and coatings. The graphene is pre-dispersed in the carrier the formulation already uses, whether solvent, water or resin, so it can be added to an existing coating and mixed until uniform.

Why coatings formulators are interested

Graphene's flat, very thin sheets are known for forming a barrier that can make it harder for moisture and gases to pass through a film. That is why graphene is widely researched for protective and anti-corrosion coatings. The Graphene Paint Additive is designed to help formulators test that effect in architectural paints, protective and industrial coatings, primers and sealers. Graphene Integrations does not publish performance numbers for coatings; results are measured against each customer's baseline.

“Coatings chemists don't need another miracle claim. They need graphene that's already in a carrier their formula likes, so it stays mixed. That's what we make here in the USA, and they can judge the film for themselves.”

— Frans Alkemade, CEO of Graphene Integrations

Fits the formula you already have

A graphene that fights the carrier won't stay dispersed, so the company matches the carrier to the coating system. Typical dosing is 1% to 7% by weight, depending on the job. Formulators add the additive, mix until uniform and run their usual tests, such as adhesion, appearance and exposure testing, against the current product.

Availability

The additive comes in 32 fl oz bottles, 1 gallon jugs and 5 gallon pails, with bulk on request. A technical data sheet is available. It is patent pending, made in the USA and contains no carbon black, and the graphene is never supplied as a dry powder.

About Graphene Integrations

Graphene Integrations, formerly Graphene America, is a US graphene manufacturer based in Charlotte, NC. The company makes graphene and supplies it pre-mixed in water, solvents, resins and oils, never as a dry powder, so manufacturers can add it to products and processes they already run. Its products are patent pending and made in the USA. Learn more about Graphene Integrations.
