Graphene Integrations Launches a Pre-Mixed Graphene Motor Oil Additive for Oil Blenders

Press release

Made in the USA and supplied ready to blend, the additive brings graphene into finished motor oils and additive packages without dry powder handling.

— Graphene Integrations today launched its Graphene Motor Oil Additive, a graphene additive for motor oil and engine oil formulations. The graphene comes pre-mixed in an oil-based carrier, so blenders can add it to a finished oil or blend it into their own additive package with the equipment they already run.

Built on independent lab results

The additive uses the same chemistry as the company's graphene lubricant additive: graphene integrated into oleic acid and monomer. In independent testing at Univar's Houston lab, that additive delivered up to 42% less wear and a 26% higher weld load compared with the lubricant without graphene. Weld load is the load at which the test surfaces seize, so a higher number means the oil keeps protecting metal under heavier load.

Results in a specific engine oil depend on the base oil and the additive package, so Graphene Integrations recommends that every blender test the additive in its own formulation against its current oil as the baseline.

“We didn't want to hand blenders a jar of powder and a science project. This additive pours into the oil you already make, and the starting point is real lab data: up to 42% less wear and a 26% higher weld load at Univar's Houston lab.”

Who it is for

The additive is aimed at blenders of finished motor oils and at fleets, marine and small-engine oil programs that want to evaluate graphene in gasoline and diesel engine oils. Typical dosing is 1% to 7% by weight, depending on the job, and the team suggests a starting treat rate for each trial. Pack sizes run from a 32 fl oz bottle to 1 gallon jugs and 5 gallon pails, with bulk quantities on request.

No powder, no new equipment

Graphene Integrations never sells graphene as a dry powder. Because the graphene is already dispersed in the carrier, there is no dust to handle and no special mixing step. Shake the container, weigh the dose, add it to the oil and test. The additive is patent pending, made in the USA and contains no carbon black. A technical data sheet is available, and the company does not publish fuel-economy, oil-life or field claims for it.

About Graphene Integrations

Graphene Integrations, formerly Graphene America, is a US graphene manufacturer based in Charlotte, NC. The company makes graphene and supplies it pre-mixed in water, solvents, resins and oils, never as a dry powder, so manufacturers can add it to products and processes they already run. Its products are patent pending and made in the USA. Learn more about Graphene Integrations.
