Graphene Integrations Brings Graphene to Hydraulic Fluids for Mobile and Industrial Equipment

Press release

A pre-mixed additive for mineral-oil hydraulic fluids that blends in without dry handling and is evaluated in the customer's own system.

— Graphene Integrations today announced its Graphene Hydraulic Fluid Additive for mineral-oil hydraulic fluids used in mobile and industrial equipment. The additive is aimed at the pumps, valves and cylinders that keep construction, agricultural and manufacturing machines moving.

Protecting the parts that do the work

Hydraulic pumps and valves run with tight clearances and metal-to-metal contact under pressure, so wear protection is a core job of the fluid. The graphene chemistry behind this additive delivered up to 42% less wear and a 26% higher weld load in independent testing at Univar's Houston lab, compared with the lubricant without graphene. Graphene Integrations is clear that those are lab results for its lubricant additive, not field results in a hydraulic system, and recommends testing in each customer's fluid and equipment.

“A hydraulic system doesn't care about buzzwords. It cares whether the pump is still healthy after a long season. Our job is to give fluid makers graphene that blends right in, plus honest lab data, so they can prove it in their own equipment.”

How it goes in

The additive is supplied pre-mixed in an oil-based carrier, graphene integrated into oleic acid and monomer. Users shake the container, weigh the dose at 1% to 7% by weight depending on the job, blend it into the hydraulic fluid and compare it with their baseline. Fluid builders are encouraged to include their normal filtration and compatibility checks in the trial, since every system and seal package is different.

Packs and paperwork

The additive comes in 1 gallon jugs and 5 gallon pails, with bulk quantities on request, and a technical data sheet is available. It is patent pending, made in the USA and contains no carbon black. Graphene is never sold as a dry powder.

About Graphene Integrations

Graphene Integrations, formerly Graphene America, is a US graphene manufacturer based in Charlotte, NC. The company makes graphene and supplies it pre-mixed in water, solvents, resins and oils, never as a dry powder, so manufacturers can add it to products and processes they already run. Its products are patent pending and made in the USA. Learn more about Graphene Integrations.
