Graphene Integrations Introduces a Water-Based Graphene Coolant Additive for Cooling Loops

Press release

Pre-dispersed in deionized water, the additive lets engineers evaluate graphene in engine cooling, chillers and process cooling loops they already run.

Liquid cooling pipework in an equipment room

— Graphene Integrations today introduced its Graphene Coolant Additive, a graphene additive for liquid cooling loops supplied pre-dispersed in deionized water. It is intended for engine cooling systems, industrial chillers, process cooling loops and heat exchangers.

Why graphene in a coolant

Graphene is known for very high thermal conductivity, and researchers have long studied graphene nanofluids as a way to help liquids carry heat. The Graphene Coolant Additive is designed to let engineers test that idea in their own systems. Graphene Integrations is not publishing performance numbers for this additive yet. Results depend on the loop, the base coolant and the operating conditions, so every trial is measured against the customer's own baseline.

“Heat is the enemy in every engine room, chiller and process line. We're giving engineers graphene they can pour straight into a loop and measure against what they run today, and we'll publish numbers for this one when we've tested it, not before.”

— Frans Alkemade, CEO of Graphene Integrations

A separate product from ThermaGraph

The coolant additive is a general-purpose additive for adding to a coolant or heat-transfer fluid. It is separate from ThermaGraph, the company's finished graphene coolant for data center liquid cooling. Users weigh the additive at 1% to 7% by weight depending on the job, add it to the coolant and circulate or mix until uniform.

Handling and supply

Because the graphene is already dispersed in water, there is no dry powder to handle. The additive comes in 1 gallon jugs and 5 gallon pails, with bulk on request, and a technical data sheet is available. It is patent pending, made in the USA and contains no carbon black.

About Graphene Integrations

Graphene Integrations, formerly Graphene America, is a US graphene manufacturer based in Charlotte, NC. The company makes graphene and supplies it pre-mixed in water, solvents, resins and oils, never as a dry powder, so manufacturers can add it to products and processes they already run. Its products are patent pending and made in the USA. Learn more about Graphene Integrations.
