Graphene Integrations Develops Graphene Car Care Products with ITW for Rain-X and Black Magic

Four graphene-enhanced car care products came out of the work with ITW's engineers: two for Rain-X and two for Black Magic.

CHARLOTTE, NC — December 2021 — Graphene Integrations worked with the engineering team at ITW, the company behind the Rain-X and Black Magic car care brands, to develop graphene-enhanced car care products. Four products came out of that work, two for each brand: Rain-X Graphene Spray Wax, Rain-X Graphene Exterior Detailer, Black Magic Intense Graphene Quick Detailer and Black Magic Intense Graphene Tire Shine.

The products

The products are made by our client ITW and are sold by retailers including Walmart, Advance Auto Parts and Amazon.

How the project worked

Graphene Integrations (then Graphene America) followed the same process it uses with every manufacturer. ITW described the products it already made and what it wanted to improve. Graphene Integrations suggested a graphene dispersion in a carrier that fit each formula, with a starting dose, and quoted R&D samples. ITW's formulators tested the samples against their own baseline, and once the formulas worked, Graphene Integrations scaled up and supplied the dispersion. Car care formulas are often solvent-based, and Graphene Integrations supplies graphene dispersed in solvents as well as in water, resins and oils. Graphene is sold only pre-dispersed in a carrier, never as dry flake or powder.

Roles

ITW and its brands formulate, make, market and sell the finished products. Graphene Integrations supplies the graphene know-how and the graphene dispersion. Graphene Integrations does not sell consumer car care products and does not publish performance claims for ITW's products.
