Defense applications need materials that are strong and light, and that hold up in harsh conditions. Graphene is studied as an addition to the polymers, fibers and composites used in protective gear, vehicles and equipment.
Graphene in the Military
Graphene Manufacturing Made in America
Graphene has remarkable properties in the lab, but it only helps a product when it is evenly mixed into the material. Getting that mixing right is the hard part, and it is what we focus on at Graphene Integrations.
What we do
We make graphene and infuse it into the liquids manufacturers already use: water, solvents, resins and oils. Customers get ready-to-use graphene dispersions, concentrates and additives that fit into their existing processes, instead of a dry powder that is hard to handle and mix.
Graphene in Consumer Goods
Graphene is already in products people buy. In most of them it is a small addition to a material that already works, such as a polymer, coating or fluid, and its job is to improve one or two specific properties.
Graphene products on store shelves
Our first client was ITW, the company behind the Rain-X and Black Magic car care brands. Working with ITW's engineering team, we developed four graphene-enhanced products that reached store shelves: Rain-X Graphene Spray Wax, Rain-X Graphene Exterior Detailer, Black Magic Intense Graphene Quick Detailer and Black Magic Intense Graphene Tire Shine. Read the ITW case study.
Graphene in Aerospace
Aerospace is always trying to save weight without giving up strength, durability or safety. Graphene is studied as a small addition to the polymers and composites that aircraft already use.
Our aerospace polymer work
Working with Advanced Armor Research Group (AARG), we developed graphene-integrated polymers and composites. They were evaluated with V50 ballistic testing at the NTS Chesapeake ballistic and materials testing facility in Belcamp, MD. Graphene's integration into Textiles
Graphene can be added to textiles as a coating, a printed layer or a filler in fibers. Researchers and brands are using it to add functions that ordinary fabrics don't have.
Graphene in the Healthcare Industry
Graphene is being researched for healthcare because of its conductivity, its large surface area and how easily its surface can be modified. Most healthcare uses are still in research or early development, and medical products need regulatory approval before use.
